D’ AWAKENED

Its nearing two months now to the terrorists attacks on Mumbai. Since then we have come a long way as a true Indian. The response to the attacks has been phenomenal and more importantly from all sectors of the society. Even the Government has been thoroughly following the matter and as it is evident from the statements of the Prime Minister and the Foreign Affairs Minister that this time we are not going to tolerate this heinous act of Pakistan. It is more than clear that Pakistan has been the home ground of the terrorist for carrying out all their activities right from preplanning of an attack, to training the petty thieves into terrorists. These terrorists are not only trained by the Pakistani army officials but are provided with the weapons also.

All of us know all of it; still why is it being put up again and again. The reason being simple that in our fast paced lives, our memory is becoming shorter. We are inclined to the typical ‘chalta hai’ attitude, which we do not know the consequences as of now. At the time of the
Mumbai attack, everyone of us was really heated up with ‘Attack Pakistan’. But is war so easy? Do we know the implications of it? To put it more simply, if we demand war, we have to win it and to win it, we need to prepare for it. Our general attitude is that our army is best capable of handling it. But my dear friends, this is a very futile thinking because the war we will be facing will not be constrained to the borders only. It will reach every house and to emerge victorious, we have to be really well prepared for it.

How do we prepare for it? For that we need to understand the manner in which the war can affect us in our daily life. We cannot deny the possibility any particular area being bombed by the enemy. In such a case what are we going to do? Wait till the officials/ authorities to help? How many of us are aware of the small do’s and donts to be done?

Self discipline is going to play the most important role for civilians in the war to come. All of us need not necessarily join the army for facing the war. There are some really simple things that can we common citizens can do to actually save ourselves during
any crisis whether be it war or any other disaster.
